Nemesio 'El Mencho' Oseguera Cervantes, leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), was killed during a military raid in Jalisco state. Mexican forces tracked him to a hideout in Tapalpa after intercepting intelligence from a confidante of his romantic partner. The operation resulted in at least 73 fatalities nationwide.

Retaliatory violence erupted across 20 states, prompting the deployment of 9,500 troops to restore order. President Sheinbaum declared the situation stabilized by Monday, with over 250 cartel roadblocks cleared. The US State Department had offered a $15 million bounty for El Mencho, one of the most wanted criminals in North America.
